“Los locales” means “locals”. But who are the locals?

A tough question. Definitely not only those who were born here. It’s something bigger than that.

Maybe we become locals when we take friends along streets that already feel like home and tell them the kinds of stories you don’t usually find in guidebooks: where aliens landed, why hundreds of people gathered in the shade of this tree, how Belgrano, Paris, and New York are connected, what traces Brodsky and Einstein left here, and so on.
